Health Benefits of Running

Now relocated to Denver, Colorado, Heidi Jewell performs social media outreach and monitors social media traffic as an account manager at VOCO Creative. Running on a regular basis can improve your health in multiple ways. A study from the Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience journal states that shorter-term exercise such as running improves cognition.

Aside from boosting brain function, running can improve your mood, as intense activity causes a signal of pleasure as a result of a rise in brain chemicals known as endocannabinoids. Relatedly, regular running can lead to a decrease in anxiety and depression. Finally, according to the Journal of Adolescent Health, individuals who go for a morning run can improve their sleep.

Tips for Photographing Food

An account manager at the marketing agency VOCO Creative in Denver, Colorado, Heidi Jewell serves as a liaison between clients and team members as she drives performance based on client needs. Formerly based in Nashville, Heidi Jewell is also a photographer of food, fashion, architecture, interior design, and more.

With the advent of smartphones and Instagram, photographing food has become a daily ritual for many. However, there are ways to make food photos really pop, according to BBC Good Food. First, try to avoid using flash, as the light will flatten the dish and eliminate natural shadows that add to the composition. It is a good idea to use a tripod in order to avoid the blurriness that comes from shaky hands.

When composing the shot, carefully select props that will contribute to the photo--everything should be thoughtfully placed. Be sure to try different angles and determine which is the best and if you feel like the composition isn’t working, it’s a good time to rearrange or start over. Finally, don’t let the food sit around too long and don’t be afraid to add misty bursts of water to give food a more vibrant appearance.

Tips to Be a Stronger Hiker

The former Nashville editor for Nylon magazine, Heidi Jewell was responsible for covering the city’s daily activities. Now residing in Denver, she manages client relationships, digital efforts, and performs various additional duties as an account manager for VOCO Creative. Aside from fulfilling her professional obligations, Heidi Jewell enjoys an array of hobbies, including hiking in the vicinity of Denver and beyond.

There are several tips to bear in mind if you want to become a stronger hiker. Take trail mix, as it is vital to keep your hard-working muscles enriched with nutrients. Bringing a lunch is insufficient; you need trail mix to keep you functioning at an optimal level.

Aside from nutrition, it’s beneficial to avoid wearing cotton while hiking. Instead, you should take advantage of wicking layer technology. Wicking means that sweat will be moved away from your body, through the layers. Cotton, by contrast, will absorb your sweat.

How to Improve Your Food Photography

As an account manager at VOCO Creative in Denver, Heidi Jewell manages digital efforts, while helping to create and execute on social media campaigns. Formerly a producer for Nashville Public Television, Heidi Jewell also hosted a five-episode series for the network. During her leisure time in Denver, she enjoys multiple hobbies, including photography.

Although food photography can be more challenging than other types of photography, improvement can be achieved by applying various techniques. Knowing your angle is the first step. There may seem to be only a few angles when it comes to food, but it’s crucial to get the most precise angle prior to capturing the photo. You will need to think of the food along with its height, shape, and size. Once you find the quality of the food, that should be your angle.

If you are trying to shoot a photo of the front side of food, it’s an advantage to have a background and foreground. Try to fill in the empty spaces with some ingredients from the main dish to allow a story to be told within the picture.

The Importance of Integrated, Cross-Channel Marketing

Heidi Jewell has extensive experience in advertising and media, having been based in Nashville and now Denver. Currently with VOCO Creative in Denver, she manages a variety of advertising campaigns that combine photography and social media. Heidi Jewell stays up to date on the latest trends affecting her industry.

One of the latest developments in marketing is the growth of a “post digital” framework for envisioning strategic campaigns. Online channels have long since solidified their central role in purchasing decisions, with less than 10% of US consumers relying solely on offline channels when making decisions - this even applies to high-ticket items.

With digital media approaches so much a part of any marketing campaign, they are best thought of in tandem with other channels of content consumption. Individuals consume advertising across a variety of media channels, including traditional print, television, radio, and mobile and desktop devices, and it is critical that approaches link up in a integrated and coordinated manner to be effective. Marketing management approaches are increasingly focused on ensuring that consumers do not encounter a confusing array of messages that might take away from the core value proposition a company is offering.

Marketing Trends of 2016

Formerly the producer and host of You Ought to Know Nashville, Heidi Jewell serves as account manager for VOCO Creative in Denver, Colorado. She manages social media accounts for the Denver company and helps with marketing production and design. Committed to staying abreast of changes within the field, Heidi Jewell follows marketing trends.

Due to the constantly changing nature of consumer interest, marketing efforts must always try to stay one step ahead. In recent years, many marketing efforts have been redirected toward online and mobile mediums. In 2016, trends have been moving more toward placing marketing ads seamlessly within the browsing experience. By focusing on flowing with consumers as they browse rather than interrupting their browsing, companies are more likely to generate interest. Similarly, the industry is shifting more toward real-time content that is simple and brief. This is the opposite of old marketing strategies, which often focused on more long-term content.

Not only are this year’s marketing trends changing in terms of how they are presented, but they are also gaining new platforms. Among platforms that represent a valuable marketing opportunity is virtual reality. With the recent releases of VR products like Oculus Rift, this new technology is on its way to becoming mainstream, and it is changing marketing tactics in the process. By using VR technology, companies can create full, 3-D experiences that place consumers in the middle of content rather than on the sidelines.

Hiking Shoes vs. Hiking Boots

Marketing professional Heidi Jewell is an account manager with VOCO Creative, a marketing firm based in Denver. Before relocating to Denver, she worked as a producer and host with PBS Digital in Nashville. In her free time, Heidi Jewell enjoys hiking.

When it comes to hiking, choosing the right footwear is one of the most important steps a hiker can take toward maximizing enjoyment on the trail. For hikers interested in shorter hikes on well-defined trails, hiking shoes are typically the best option. Lighter and more flexible than almost all other types of hiking footwear, hiking shoes allow you to move more quickly, at the expense of durability and protection.

If you plan to do longer hikes over less predictable terrain, hiking boots provide the qualities necessary for the job. Typically made from leather or synthetic reinforcements, hiking boots include features such as toe bumpers and lightweight plates underfoot, protecting the foot from bruising. Hiking boots also are useful for occasional hikers with muscles that are less developed, as well as individuals prone to ankle and knee injuries.

Good Form Can Save a Runner from Injuries.

A former resident of Nashville and currently the account manager of Denver-based VOCO Creative, Heidi Jewell was a successful freelance photographer in the past and still shoots photos for her clients as part of her job. In her free time, Heidi Jewell likes to run; habitual runners should be aware that good running form can help prevent injuries.

The first key to running form is maintaining a tight stride. A runner’s leading foot should land as close to the runner’s body as possible. Instead of worrying about cadence, stride length is a better focus. Slower running needs shorter stride length; faster running uses longer stride length. This practice helps to keep the feet directly under the knees, reducing stress on the knee joints and decreasing injuries.

The second key is using hip strength. Approximately 82 percent of runners don’t use all of their hip length and extension. By stretching the hip flexor muscles, located at the front of the hip, runners can gain a greater range of motion, important for maintaining the symmetry and alignment that are crucial to preventing injuries. When hips are stretched and strengthened, then runners are better able to push off the ground, gaining more momentum and speed while reducing aches and pains.

The third key is strengthening tendons through explosive drills. This training is typically practiced by intermediate runners rather than beginners and may help people to develop their fast-twitch muscles for better speed, better form, and better overall health, reducing their chances of injuries.
